3 days trip goup Shared tour
A group shared tour from Marrakech to Fes via the desert is the perfect way to experience Morocco’s diverse landscapes and culture on a budget while meeting fellow travelers. Over several days, the journey takes you across the winding High Atlas Mountains, through ancient kasbahs like Aït Benhaddou, and along the spectacular valleys dotted with palm groves and traditional Berber villages. The highlight is reaching Merzouga, where camels lead the group into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi for a night under the stars in a desert camp filled with music and local hospitality. The trip continues north through the Ziz Valley and cedar forests before arriving in the spiritual city of Fes. With transport, accommodation, and some meals included, this shared adventure offers comfort, affordability, and the chance to connect with new friends while discovering Morocco’s most iconic route.
DAY 1: From the Red City to the Canyons

– Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your accommodation.
– We ascend into a majestic mountain range, traversing a high-altitude pass with
numerous opportunities to stop for breathtaking panoramic photographs.
– Explore a UNESCO-recognized fortified village, an ancient earthen architecture
complex where you can wander its labyrinthine lanes and climb to a high vantage
point for unparalleled views. The journey then continues past a famous film studio
town and through a lush palm grove, following the legendary "Route of a Thousand
Kasbahs.
– The day’s final leg takes you through a stunning river valley known for its fragrant
blooms and into a dramatic gorge, where you can take a short walk among fascinating
rock formations.
– Overnight in a local guesthouse in the gorge, including dinner and breakfast.

After breakfast, we venture into a towering river canyon, where you can experience
the awe-inspiring scale of the cliffs firsthand with a brief walk.
– The journey continues through a series of sprawling palm oases and traditional desert
towns, following the ancient trading routes.
– By mid-afternoon, you'll reach the gateway to the Sahara. Here, you will switch from
wheels to a traditional camel caravan (or a 4×4 vehicle) for a serene trek into the heart
of the golden dunes at sunset.
– Your desert camp awaits. Enjoy traditional mint tea, a hearty dinner under a blanket of
stars, and an evening of Berber music around a campfire. For the early riser, a climb
up a dune for sunrise is a must.

– Witness a spectacular desert sunrise before enjoying a camp breakfast and returning to
the road.

– The long but incredibly scenic drive to Fes begins. You will follow a sprawling river
valley dense with thousands of palm trees and dotted with crumbling kasbahs, before
climbing into a different, forested mountain range.
– En route, we stop in a serene cedar forest, home to playful troops of native monkeys,
and briefly visit a unique town known for its distinctive European-inspired
architecture.
– The tour concludes with an early evening drop-off in Fes at or near your
accommodation.

Practical Notes for the Journey:
  •  Pack practically: a medium suitcase and a daypack is ideal. Avoid very large, hard-
    shell luggage.
  • The desert climate demands preparation. Bring layers for cool evenings, a headscarf,
    sun protection, and sturdy shoes.
  • Internet and mobile service are unreliable in the desert and mountains; download
    entertainment and maps beforehand.
  • This is a shared group tour; seating is rotated fairly, with priority often given to those
who experience motion sickness on winding roads.
  • All timings are approximate and can be affected by weather, road conditions, and
    group pace.
